How to force the use of certain video codec?

How I can tell Windows to always use certain video codec?
Everytime I change the codec in GBPVR, I do not see the desired effect when I play back the video (I expected sharper colors ...etc.).

Also when I play uisng Window Media Player, and look under properties in the file menu, it still uses default MPEG VIDEO CODEC, but I want it to use ATI video codec.

How I force Windows and/or GBPVR to use certain codec?

I think even GBPVR does not follow its own config (though the menus in config says ATI) but still playback uses default.

For MPEG2 playback it should use the decoder specified on playback tab of the config app. If you think it isnt, then zip and attach the gbpvr.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.
