I'm starting to get kind of fed up with this whole thing. I can't figure out what's going on.

After a few hours of installing, uninstalling and reinstalling a variety of things yesterday, I finally managed to get gbpvr to work with this card. It worked pretty good, but I had to restart the feed every commercial break or so to resync the audio and video. Now, though, nothing even works! No matter what codecs or mux I choose, it seems like the best thing that happens is that the audio pops on, crystal clear, for a second and then cuts out as soon as the video starts (the video is blotchy AND running in slo-mo).

I don't know what else to try, so I'm hoping that someone else has this card and can recommend a decoder and mux combo that will work.

Thanks.

Most ATSC users just use the Microsoft DVR-MS mux. If that one doesnt work well for you then problem is most likely the video decoder you're using, or poor reception.

Yesterday in post you said mux checker said you had no muxes installed, which means no matter what mux option you chose, it'll be falling back the default Microsoft DVR-MS mux option.

What CPU and video card are in your machine?

The muxchecker still says there aren't any installed, but there's about 5 of them in the list (I didn't know it was in the misc tab until today).

CPU is Athlon 64 1.8ghz (PR3200, I think). GPU is Radeon 9500.

The thing that baffles me is the fact that it worked just fine last night, but then all of the sudden it's stopped. All of the channels react the same, and I know all of them aren't the same signal quality/strength. Maybe I could try to trade up from This to This so I can get an amplified signal. Everyone was telling me that that philips HDTV antenna is pretty much the best of the best, though.

They're always listed in the config app dropdown list - that doesnt mean they installed. Muxchecker will tell you which muxes are installed (with the exception of the DVR-MS mux which is always available from XP SP1 or higher). If it doesnt find the mux you selected, then it eventually falls back to using the DVR-MS mux.

This graphics would really struggle doing anything HDTV. An Athlon 64 3200+ CPU should be fine though (is this want you've got?).

Yeah, that sounds like the right CPU.

And the HD Channel that I watched (my local NBC seems to be full HD, while Fox is just digital 480) DID struggle, but it was still watchable. Now I can't get anything to show.

Is there any way to reinstall the DVR-MS mux? I get a feeling like it wasn't installed to begin with. I think what eventually got DVR to work on my PC was to download a .mx file and put it in my windows/system32 folder. Muxchecker still says nothing is installed, so I'm wondering if I'm missing part of the DVR-MS mux or something.

Could be poor reception.

Its always present on machines with XP Service Pack 1 or higher.

Much checker doesnt list the DVR-MS mux, so you dont need to worry about that.

I'm pretty sure it'll present on your machine, but if you're worried, try a recording, then zip and attach the logs and I'll check it was found.

BTW, muxes are only used during recording, not live tv.

Oh, hmm...

Alright, well, I played around with it a bit and I found one audio decoder that works well. I get crystal clear audio IF I don't get any video. Some decoders will start to decode video, but then crawl along slowly, while some decodes will just remain black.

DScaler MPEG2 decoder - crawls along at a snails pace (and screws up the audio)
Cyberlink DTV - Black screen, audio is fine.
GPL MPEG 1/2 decoder - Black screen, audio is choppy.

I'm testing on a station that I know has good reception, and I know is SD-digital.

Can you recommend any other decoders to try?

Try this one again, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Alright.

Thanks for all your help!

Oh, and the audio doesn't seem that choppy any more. Might have just been a hiccup in the reception the last time I tried.
