I don't transcode many videos, but I'd love the option to have some recordings Transcode immediately after they're done. My kids like some videos for their PSP, or I record something in HD that I know my kids will want to watch on their MVP in their rooms instead of on the big screen.

We don't want everything to be transcoded automatically... just specific recordings or series recordings.

This is something I'm intending to do at some stage, but it hasnt made it to the top of the priority heap yet.

Well I could, and in fact do use a customized version of it, but my kids can't. I'd rather my 11 yr old be able to set "Hannah Montana" or "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" to record and convert to PSP format without having to get me involved.

Thanks for the reply though. I'm a fan of Stattik's work, and if I didn't already know about it, I'd want to.

hmm, i use mine in postprocessing. Actually, I have mine set to create a queue and then at 2am it transcodes everything from the day. You could just set certain shows to be transcoded to PSP automatically I think...

It would be cool to do post-processing that was different for different shows. For instance, if you had something that you wanted to put on a smaller device versus something you wanted in a different format. Overall... it would be nice to have easier settings for the processing tab. For instance, if I select Divx, it would be nice to have a settings button where I could implement all of the divx settings I wanted. Just a little more gui and user friendly.

To be honest, its unlikely I'd ever do this. It makes the interface too complex.

As I said above though, I do hope to one day allow the user to select a pre-defined conversion profile to be used for a recording.

I know this is going to sound like a really stupid question, but is it possible to just save it as an mp4 avi using divx or xvid or something of the like? IE skip the whole post processing?

This question might belong somewhere else, but it's linked to my earlier statement.

I am under the impression that divx (as well as other codecs I'm sure) can utilize a two pass system to get the best quality. The last article I read about this concept said that it uses the first pass to read the data in high detail and then the second pass to implement the actual conversion. Could that be utilized in GB-PVR somewhat like comskip? Meaning that it would "read" through it in real time or maybe a little bit slower, but then afterwards convert? Again, I'm not an expert in this field, but I was pondering that.
