Hey I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem, but as I go higher into the channels (say past 57) the channels start getting boxy and tiled. As you go higher and higher the symptoms get worse. This kinda sucks cause a lot of the shows I watch are on channel 72.

I'll attach a screenshot when I get home.

Bad signal maybe, what signal is it? Check the cables/splitters etc, see if you can borrow an amp to try out.

If it's analog cable, try a (better) quality splitter. Also, I had a similar problem, and when I adjusted the cable in the back, it would tune the channels better for a while. Ultimately, replacing the inline splice outside the house solved my problem.

Also, I remember reading a post in the last 2 weeks about someone having to "fine tune" the channels and that solved the problem. Not sure how to do that, but you could look around the forum. They had the same exact symptoms that you did.

I'm not sure that the splitter is the ultimate problem since when I hook the line directly into my TV the signal is still a little staticy, but not nearly as bad as it is through GBPVR.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the in-line splice and I hope I don't have to go that far to fix this problem. Especially when this "fine tuning" channels is possible. Any other keywords or things that you remember would be helpful too.

Thanks.

I'd trt another cable, just to rule that out and check the plugs, if possible. I've seen often enough the centre wire of the coax to be broken in the plug. And try wiggling the plugs to see if there are bad connections. And as I said before: try to borrow a signal-amp. If that helps you could ask the cable-company (if you have one) to increase the signal.

To fine tune, you'd first have to find out the frequency (in MHz) that the channel in question has. Then you'd go into the capture source, and *instead* of the channel number you'd type in the frequency, but slightly (perhaps in steps of 500 or so) adjusted up or down. Save your capture source and restart gbpvr. If you want to make the process faster, you can create several dummy channels with the frequency adjusted many times (differently, of course), so you can see which one gives the best picture merely by selecting it in gbpvr. Hope I make sense.
I'm not always right

The inline spice is nothing more than a female end on both sides. It's used to join 2 male connectors. Mine was outside right before the cable went into the house.

Probably costs less than $5 at radio shack.
