I am using 99.12 with Vista Ultimate and it refuses to play a recording while it is being recorded. Says "Error: Failure Playing Back File"

I have the logs zipped up below.

Its because of this. One other Vista user had the same problem, but had difficulties registering it.

You could try right clicking on the ReRegisterFilters.bat file, and selecting 'run as administrator' or whatever the option is called.

Whaaaat??!! Didn't work for me. GBPVRParser.ax shows up in the registry but I still get the error when using GBPVR on the computer. But, funnily, the video plays via MVP but I thought I saw a flash of the error screen when exiting back to the menu.

I wonder if it would have helped you if you'd deregistered first, before running ReRegisterFilters.bat as administrator?

I think there is some tricks going on with the Vista VirtualStore stuff that creates fake registry settings when a non administrator account tries to update the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry keys, which happens when you register something. Its hard to tell if you're looking at the real registry or the faked copy of it.

It certainly seems weird. I have run the deregister before the register. I am running as a member of the admin group and I have specifically run the batch file as administrator.

After unregistering, there are 5 entries with gbpvrparser.ax in the registry. After registering there are 6. The one that changes is HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID{AE38F....................}\InProcServer32

FWIW!!

That's me beatSmile

I'm still not running Vista here, so not really an expert, but you might want to have a poke around on the registry settings under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE

There is an entry for Devnz there but no entries off it.

Peculiar that the play action works with MVP but not comp. I also don't think it was an error screen I saw (see above) when using the Menu key. I used Exit and the screen was the Play/Cancel etc screen I saw.

BTW, the problem I had with the TV1 no-show was a dropped digit in the freq:o Sorry about that. Your answer was basically correct (as usual!).

To bring this to a conclusion, I got this problem solved by modifying the security settings for the devnz directory. Basically, I edited the settings for all users listed to Full Control. Bingo - gbpvrparser is now found and the above error disappears.

In retrospect, this solution was suggested by the fact that it wouldn't work on the computer but was OK under MVP. Different user for each - one had rights and the other didn't. QED!

Another one bites the dustSmile

I read a while ago an article on Vista, there it was stated that members of the administrator-group didn't have the same rights as the Administrator.
Could that have something to do with it?
