I have gbpvr set up with a hauppauge mvp. I can play mp3 files, see pictures, get to the web radio, see the tv guide, but I cannot get the thing to record a tv program or see tv through the live tv function. I have read about mpeg decoders and mux's but I cannot find any to install into my machine (or how for that matter). It seems having these will fix my problem?

Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance

What video capture device have you installed in your computer? The MVP is not a capture device.

Look at the http://www.gbpvr.com/index.php?option=co...&Itemid=38 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS page.

i.e. Analog capture devices must have an onboard hardware MPEG2 encoder. Digital ATSC or DVB devices must have BDA compliant drivers. A full list of devices can be found on the wiki.

This looks like the right place for this....so, here's my post from a different thread with an UPDATE:

Greetings,

I have been using gbpvr for a month or so and it was working ok...upgraded to current version and it worked ok, but now I am having the following problem: it seems to have stopped recording shows. Scheduled recordings don't show up in the list, or in windows explorer. I tried to start a recording manually and it repored that it was recording, but nothing showed up. I got a an empty folder with the name of the show. Any thoughts?
How do I troubleshoot this?
I tried exiting the program, and the tray icon was green and it reported that it was recording when I selected 'status'.
hard drive has 11 gb free.

Thanks,
Howard (totaly noob!)

My set up:
dimension 2400/hauppauge hvr-1600/winxp/geforce 5500fx

UPDATE: 9:45PM EDT
I tried to reproduce the problem by recording a show and it worked...then I realized I was recording from an ATSC channel, but if I flipped to an NTSC channel it was a blank screen. That seemed odd, so I tried going through the TV guide to pick a channel, then recording an NTSC channel. No luck. I stopped GBPVR and checked the status - both tuners showed 'sleeping'. On a hunch, I rebooted and it is now working. I am thinking that regular rebooting is probably a good thing. It's strange that there wasn't a 'failed' recording or other indication that the signal was blank.

I have a recurring recording set for the AM, so I will check that tomorrow. If it fails, I will post the logs.

I have other questions...but I think I'm ok for now. I will read some more of the forums and post where appropriate. Thanks,
Howard

The same thing happened to me and with lost LiveTV and "fake" recording (only a empty folder and everything looked like in ordinary recording). Resolved it by rebooting. Had some strange message about .NET showing up before reboot, but didn't read it. This have never happened before on 98.13b, I run the latest version today (99.12).

What can have trigged this?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Without the logs I cant tell you anything.

Can you also attach the matching GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log?
