Looks great so far... I am currently using on my PC monitor, but would like to get to use on a TV once I can find cables long enough!

Things I would like to see:

automatic updating of epg - e.g. ananonva does an xml file that is updated daily for UK tv - perhaps a service that picks up the updates and incorporates into the EPG.

ability to use PDC/VPS for start and stop times (ok I'm really hoping here) - in the UK tv shows don't start at the time specified in the EPG - they may start several minutes earlier or later, so you can lose the start or end of the prog. The way video recorders get round this is to pick up a signal from the broadcaster (PDC - programme delivery control in the UK, VPS - video programming system other places in Europe) - which is sent in the VBI as a teletext magazine, which starts when the programme starts and stops when it stops. If teletext is possible from the tuner (as is the case for Hauppauge PVR-250/350's) this should be feasible with enough knowledge of how the card works (I think).

OSD on the TV out for the PVR-350... in fact, the whole GUI out to the TV out :-)

Album/Movie artwork for the music/video section (or perhaps a frame from the video if not)

A "play TV" option - if this is to be used as the primary interface to the PC from a TV, being able to go to live TV, perhaps even from the EPG would be useful.

Yes, I will do automatic EPG update.

I'd never heard of PDC/VPS. We dont have it here. yes it might be a good thing to have. It'll have to go into the future...possibly catagory. If I can find some code or good examples, I'll look into it.

The whole GUI + OSD is available on the PVR-350 TV out. There may be a couple of things to work through when someone eventually tries it, but on my machine the whole GUI is available. AVI/DivX dont playback through the PVR350. I really want to check this is working for other people, so please try it and if it doesn't work let me know what happens. If the GUI doesn't initially appear via the TV out. Try playing a movie from your video library and see if the OSD appears.

There is limited artwork support at the moment fro Music/Video/Mame. Any of these directories that contain a 'default.jpg/gif/png' will cause the image to be show.

Yes, Live TV is on the To Do list. I've just got a couple more behind the scenes things to fix first.

Re the OSD - My problem is that the TV is in another room (at the end of a 25ft s-video cable!Wink - I didn't think to check it before hitting "play" so didn't realise the whole GUI comes out!! Looks good - it looks though as if it doesn't support all the colours gradients on the "blue" skin.

I've found the PVR350's OSD to be very slow. You can get full 24bit colour by unchecking the 'Quick Mode' option in the Configuration application.

The color gradients are a artifact of my manual brute force quantitization of 24 bit color into a palette of 252 colors. It works, but its just a little ugly at the moment. I'll come back to this sometime soon to see if I can do a better job.

Got the artwork on the screen - unfortunately it obscures the "Main Menu" button on the left hand side (but proves it works). I'm very impressed with it all!

Andy, does the remote work on you set up? I've got an email from one of the other guys saying hes got problems with the remote. I just want to double check it is working for another PVR350 user.

It works.

It wasn't working to begin with, but that may have been because I hadn't rebooted since installing the software (I'm fairly sure I have). Unfortunately I edited the irremote.ini file and restarted ir.exe before checking if just a stop/start would work - I deleted the '1' in gb-pvr=1 and put a new line before [gb-pvr] - I've taken the changes out since, and it still works, so hopefully it was just the start/stop that sorted it.

Yes, I think a restart of the Hauppauge remote program would have sorted the problem.

any changes to irremote.ini requires a stop/start of the daemon to pick up the new changes.

Cheers,
