I am currently using v96.11 (Access DB) specifically because I love your Priority Recording plugins. I know there have been some discussions about having this feature standard with GBPVR. I’ve been out of the GBPVR loop recently. What is your opinion of the latest release with regards to priority recordings? Is Priority Recordings standard with the latest verion? Is it worth it for me to upgrade to the latest version? Thank you for your opinion.

The current v0.99.12 release contains some basic support for controlling the priority of reoccuring recordings. The priority is dictated by the order shown in the 'reoccurring' list in the Recordings screen. The top of the list is the highest priority. You can move a recording up or down the list by pressing the FF or RW buttons when it is selected. Changes to the priority will only affect future recordings, not conflicts that may already exist.

Does the latest version keep a database of recorded shows, thus not recording repeats? If so, can my access db of recorded shows be transfered to the latest version?

As sub said, the current version allows for re-arranging priorities, but doesn't affect current recordings. CDK Scheduler will affect currently scheduled recordings the next time it runs, and will handle automatic conflicts, or allow you to manually resolve the conflict.

I don't believe it is on sub list to add the RecTracker type functionality that CDK Scheduler uses for knowing if it has already recorded a show in the past.

I dont really know what RecTracker does, so not sure if its exactly the same thing, but GB-PVR does have functionality built in to remember the history of recordings for zap2it users.

It wont schedule a season recording episode for a show that it already has listed in the pending or ready list, or has been deleted in the lasy 40 days (configurable with <RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays> setting in config.xml).

RecTracker, keeps a total history everytime a show is recorded, if the rectracker.exe file is added to the PostProcessing.bat file. This will add Show Name, Title, and Description information to the database, to help determine if a show has been previously recorded. This history information is kept around indefinitely, unless the user wants to delete the information. Also included in there is the ZAP2IT information if available.

So, a show could have been recorded 2 years ago, and comes back up for recording, it can be detected not to record that show. You do get a few that slip through based on changes in episode guide descriptions from time to time. But it catches a pretty good precentage of them, about 99% I would say.

That sounds sort of the like the same thing then, though I chose to auto delete old data using the <RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays> setting I mentioned. If the user wants the history go back for years, they can set that setting to whatever they want.

I only do this for zap2it show identifiers, because in most parts of the world the show title/subtitle/description arent reliable enough to make decisions about whether a show is a duplicate. Its too "hands on" for the user to have to decide about the quality of listings (which often varies from channel to channel with XMLTV).

The current release of xrecord [includes CDK scheduler] on the wiki works fine with the latest release of gbpvr. There have been between 30-40 bugfixes so it should even work better than the older version.

Yep which is why RecTracker still allows for capturing of non-Zap2It information,so that the user can decide if their source is good enough to use.
