Hello,

I'm trying configure a second PC to act as a client over my LAN. If I try to watch live TV on the client I'm presented with either a black screen (which I can escape out of back to the TV guide) or gbpvr crashes, depending on what combination of video decoder and video renderer I have selected. If I run the path to the video file I find at the end of the log (e.g. \\Pvr\pvrvideos\FilmThe Brady Bunch Movie_1_20070405_22300010.dvr-ms) media player opens up and plays the clip fine.

Incidentally I'm doing this in file sharing mode.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Log files are attached.

Thanks,

Luke

I suspect you wouldnt be able to do that while recording is still occuring. You can do it after the recording stops, and would also be able to play it from GB-PVR at this point.

There is some special stuff about DVR-MS files that makes them only playable on the local machine while the recording is still occurring. I think its sharing the real file size etc in memory, which is only accessible from that same machine.

At this stage, I dont think there is anything you can do to use .dvr-ms files for live tv from a client PC.

With a digital device it is the mux that you're using that is dictating the file type. If you're using a DVB device, then you can download and install either the Cyberlink or ATI mux and switch to that, and it'll create .mpg files. You could also try that if you're using an ATSC device, but most ATSC users dont find these muxes work that well for them so that have to stick to DVR-MS.
