Hi Sub, hope you might be able to point me i the right direction Smile

My setup is windows 2003 server ,gbpvr v 99.12, pvr350 and a new nova t 500 using the latest cyberlink muxer 5.0.1307

My recording service keeps stoping for some reason.

this is a snippet of GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log i get this when i try to restart service

If i trying to restart the service it fails again with the same message.

If i kill the GBPVR.exe process and then restart the service all is well again.

There is nothing in the log when the service stops.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks

no, however this box does run a home intranet website. The only thing that has changed is this new nova card

I'm not really sure then. Maybe you're running some firewall or antivirus software thats holding the socket open?

I'm aware of something odd with web server that can cause the recording service to be reloaded, causing a second attempt to listen on ports already in use, but that wont be your problem if you dont have it enabled.

Sub, no firewall only AVG antivirus. Do you know which port is supposed to be a problem, I can do a netstat to check.

Could the nova t card be causeing a problem?

Also I know this is a bit of a side line but also on this box I run a VM which creates 2 other virtual nics. When i read the mvp logs, the mvp seems to want to talk to all the cards - this seems to take the mvp a long time to start from the connecting screen.

I have been using this setup for a long time now and have only seen problems when upgrading to 99.12

Do you think i should go back to a previous version?

Can you post a set of logs that show it stopping? That snippet of log above is from trying to start it.

Also check your Windows Event Viewer when you get this occurring.

Hi sub, this is what was in the event log...

Service cannot be started. System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted

this looks similar as to what recordingservice log was.

Thats the problem starting, but not what I'm looking for. What I'm really interested in seeing was the original crash was that cause the problem. You'll probably have to reboot and next time it occurs, zip and attach the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.* log files.
