This was somewhat discussed in the past, I think, but not exactly. So here goes.
Two different scenarios that we (the family) came across lately, but have "keeping recordings" in common:

Scenario 1) We have this show that we record all episodes, and I watch with the kids. It's nothing too important, so I don't care if we loose episodes. On the other hand, there are lots of them every week, and we never come to see them all. They can easily clog my HDD. So, I have it to "keep only 4 recordings".
However, few days ago, we watched this one episode that was very nice, and my daughter said - "we should keep this one". Now, there is no way that I know to do this within GB-PVR. Just keep this one.
Similar to digital-cameras - you know in many of them, you can mark an image or few as "protected" or similar. You get an icon of a "lock" on the image, and later, if you do "delete all", they still keep those marked as protected.

Scenario 2) I have made this recording of a movie from TV. Would be nice to press something that will move it to the Video folder, and remove it from the recordings altogether (would be much nicer if it was transcoded into DivX/AVI, and commercials were cut out, but that's a different story I guess).

Would the video archive plug-in do this?
I don't know if archived recordings are excluded though from episode limiters.

I am hoping to add this in function in the next release.

for #2 i autotranscode everything then just have the media pc's harddrive mapped as Z: on another computer I then just drag the file from recordings over to the videos folder.

well, if it involves dragging, then it takes the whole fun out if it, no?

At one point I started auto converting to compressed file formats, but found the lack of 'resume position' too much of a pain to bear.
