Having never even seen a digital box from Comcast I have to ask, does the Hauppauge 1600 work with it ? The reason I ask is the following on CircuitCity's web page

Note: ATSC digital TV is NOT digital cable TV or digital satellite TV. The WinTV-HVR-1600 cannot receive digital cable TV or digital satellite TV.

I believe that the 1600 receives over the air digital, QAM as opposed to Cable digital signals. Some cable companies do send out the local channels in this format but i can't tell you if Comcast is one of them. In order to use Comcast digital you'll have to use the STB and feed it to the analog side of the 1600.

hmmmmm sounds like I would be using analog signals then with the comcast digital box ?

It's a pity to have access to digital stuff, and wanting to store it in a digital layer (your computer), but having to convert it to analog on the way. You lose some of the quality that way...

Is that because the 1600 (because I specified that in my initial posting) can not record the digital signal ? Would there be some other tuner card then that could be used ?

I'm on the wrong side of the pond to answer that question I *think* there are capture cards that can do digital cable (just don't ask me which ones )
