I tried so many things over the weekend trying to get EPG mappings to work but I can't.
I'm using the Zap2It to download the DN EPG. I then scan the channels but then it doesn't map. I tried doing it the other way around and that didn't work either.
I tried using the DVB EPG with DN option enabled for BDA driver and that doesn't give me any EPG. I manully mapped a few myself but doing them all manually would be such a pain and so many channels are unknown so I don't even know where they go.

Please help. Thanks.

What doesn't work? The scan or the listings download from zap2it?

Try this: create your capture source, update EPG. Then click okay, okay to restart GBPVR. Then re-run config and go to map digital channels. Let it scan all of the channels. Now you should be able to select what "scanned" channel you want to associate with what "zap2it listing".

You really shouldn't have to do the restart after the EPG (although IIRC you have to hit "okay" on the capture source screen after doing it), but it makes me feel better when I restart it because I'm only doing one thing at a time instead of 5 things and then a restart Smile

I can do it that way but there are hundreds of channels. I'm not trying to be lazy but there are hundreds of channels. I thought I was doing something wrong since I was expecting it to be more automatic.

Downloading Zap2It EPG is not a problem. I get the entire listing.

GB-PVR has no way of knowing which channels found in the scan will map to channels in your EPG. At the end of the scan it'll automatically map those channels that are an exact name match, or match after spaces and other special characters are removed - its up to you to manually map the rest.

What if I try using DVB EPG?
I suppose it's a one time thing so no biggie. Just thought it would be more automatic. Also which file is it in so I know what to back up or move if I want to move this to another system?

If you use the DVB EPG option, then you dont need to map the channels, but unfortunately this wont pull in any listings for DishNetwork since they used a non-standard EPG implementation.

It would be more automatically, if there was some information in both sources that enabled me to do this mapping automatically. GB-PVR has no way of knowing which channels are which. It fares better with some other broadcasters, where things like Logical Channel Number extensions can be used to do this mapping automatically.

Thanks for the quick response.
I was reading several posts about DVB EPG and DN so thanks for confirming that it doesn't work. I was hopeful since there is that option in BDA advanced properties. I have more questions but I'll start another thread for it but is it taboo to talk about MDAPlugins like vplug and emunation?

Cheers. The next release has QAM support for the HVR1600.
