My wife is about to embark on a teaching job overseas and I thought I'd buy her an MP3 player to take with her. The one I have my eye on has a rechargeable battery built in but is possibly only rechargeable via a USB port (the specification doesn't mention external adapter).

She's unlikely to have regular access to a PC so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a mains adapter with a USB connector in it for recharging USB devices like this. I think I saw an adapter for iPods like this but can't find where I saw it.

It needs to run off 240V ac and have a UK-style mains plug - any recommendations gratefully received.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks - I just tried a similar search on the UK eBay site and found something which looks OK. It only comes to about 5 GBP including postage on a 'Buy It Now' so bought one.

I'll see how it goes. Smile

Brian

I just read about this device.
It does power & usb.
Plus it autodetects the incoming voltage.

I'm not sure - the Tandy name has come and gone on the 'High Street' over the past 20 years or so. Wasn't it the UK trading name of Radio Shack at one time? The last one I saw was probably about 4-5 years ago but that closed down and the premises was occupied by a shoe shop.

I'll see how my eBay purchase works out.

That looks really good as a travel adapter. I've since found a UK supplier of a similar device. If my cheapo eBay purchase doesn't do the job then I'll give it a try.

Cheers,
Brian
