I just upgraded to 1.0.8 and the process went smooth enough and everything seems to be working great on the PC side. Unfortunately, the MVP is another story. I've encountered two problems so far.

The first problem is that it seems to takes about a minute for the MVP to find the server and load the menu screen. Running 0.99.12 the menu would be up in 5-10 seconds after turning the MVP on. That is annoying but I can live with it.

The second problem is more severe. As soon as I try to watch anything, either live TV or prerecorded video (mpg recorded with GBPVR), I get a black screen and that is it. The OSD will show for a few seconds, and then just blackness (no audio either.) Hitting the back button on the remote (or any other key besides power for that matter) has no noticeable effect. After waiting a minute or so, I just powered it off and tried again to get the same result.

Any suggestions for where I should look or what I should try to correct these problems?

Can you reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs?

Tried to reproduce the problem, but everything is working now. I do have an "MVP Controller" window on my PC screen now that I don't remember noticing earlier. Could that be the difference? I also played with adding a couple of port exceptions to the Windows firewall. Anyway, I'm happy. The new rev looks good.

Today's logs are attached. The most recent is the shortest number of steps to create the issue. Click Live TV, receive blank screen, press Back, close GBPVR to create the logs.

I'm working on two issues in case the logs are confusing. This one with the blank video through MVP and another with the nVidia DualTV rendering on the PC.

Thanks!

Your problems will relate to these errors from your logs, but I'm not sure of the cause:

Quote:2007-07-08 12:08:01.500 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: NVIDIA DualTV Encoder
2007-07-08 12:08:01.500 VERBOSE using instance: 1
2007-07-08 12:08:01.500 VERBOSE Doing second capture->encoder connect for VIXS device
2007-07-08 12:08:01.500 ERROR ConnectFilters:Failed(2)

In this case its looking for part of the nvidia dualtv drivers on your machine, but not finding it.

Try running filtercheck.exe from the GB-PVR directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log it produces.

Perhaps I'll fix two problems with one log. I'm anxious to see GBPVR in action! I've worked on this install for about a week but this technology is new to me. I'm finding it difficult to systematically troubleshoot. Thanks for help Sub. Smile

I have seen this a couple of times also and it is not easily reproduceable. What I have done to "fix " it in both 99.12 and 1.0.08 is to turn off the MVP and turn it back on until played video appears.

Yeah, that component is definitely not on your machine. I dont really know much about the nvidia dualtv devices, but I'm guessing you've either got a broken driver install, or very different version of the drivers to what others have been using in the past, or its the older nvidia card? I dont know much about the nvidia cards, but I remember there was an older version that used different hardware.

Thanks for the advice. This is a new install for me and the lack of video--either live or recorded--is fortunately quite easy to reproduce.

If I get it running though I will keep your advice in mind and reboot if I have a video anomaly.

Have you seen your nvidia dualtv work in any software on your machine?
