I have an HVR1600 and DirecTV. Some of the ATSC channels map to DirecTV channels which I do with "Map digital channels to EPG" button. For the others, I created a channel number that didn't exist and mapped the ATSC ones that didn't map to these custom channels.
Problem 1: these custom channels don't have guide data, therefore I can't tune to them via TV Guide. I could have an app that stuffs them with a single entry in the XML file.
Problem 2: Each time guide is updated, I would have to stuff these channels with a single entry. I could do this by writing a custom app and running it after EPG is updated in UpdateEPG.bat.
Does this sound like a reasonable approach, or does a solution already exist?
