I've been using my HVR3000 for 2 months receiving the NZ Freeview. Recently however I noticed that a few of my recordings (dvr-ms) have dropouts and play only in spurts. The recording also fails to transcode to mpg.

It this because of the recent bad weather? Does GBPVR detect errors in the MPEG stream as it writes to file?

Yeah, this is a likely cause.

No, the data goes straight from the device, through the mux, to disk. GB-PVR does not monitor the data.

I'm using an old Sky dish that hasn't been used for 4 yrs. I was quite surprised that the LNB still works Big Grin There's now a few trees that's half blocking its line of sight to the sky so I wasn't even sure that I could get a signal.

The recording service log says Strength=-4699. Don't know what's it relative to. It this good or bad? Why is it negative?

Annoyingly all the manufacturers use different scales, making it difficult to answer this. I'm not sure, but I thought Hauppauge told me that anything above zero is considered ok. (could be thinking of some other manufacturer though)
