I have been trying the QAM recording on a new HVR-1600 by reording from SD channel and at the same time on the HD channel on the same card. When I schedule the standard channel first it will let me schedule the HD QAM channel without conflict. However, if I first schedule the HD QAM channel and then try to schedule the standard channel it gives me a recording conflict. Any thoughts on why or how to fix this?

Sub - Overall a spectacular job on new release 1.08. Works great on new install on Vista. First time I was able to use multiple MVPs without connection issues. WOW! Thanks!

Can you reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs?

I don't if it's related but when the same station was available on both SD and HD or QAM, I could only record the analog signal because zap2it identified the guide something like

2 204 Channel One

and GBPVR only tried to record the lower channel. I can't test this anymore with the loss of Clear QAM

Sub - Attached are the logs. Thanks!

I have recorded on both at at the same time several times. I just have to schedule the analog channel first and then the QAM channel. The recording happens perfectly when scheduled in this way.

My concern is the wife may schedule a QAM channel recording and that would tie up the analog tuner also.

From the look of your logs, the specified channel isnt available on both capture sources. The channel name needs to be exactly the same on both capture sources for GB-PVR to have originally treated it as the same channel.

When you schedule a recording, it starts at the the top of the capture source list and works its way down, looking for an available capture source that has the required channel. I suspect the capture source is failing this check for having the required channel.

Something is not clear to me.

My problem is that scheduling anything on the digital tuner of the HVR-1600 blocks scheduling on the analog tuner during that time slot. They don't have to be the same show and are definitely not the same channel (one is analog and one is digital).

However, if I schedule anything on the analog tuner during a time slot, the digital tuner is still available and can be scheduled during that time slot. It shouldn't matter which show (the analog one or the digital one) that is scheduled first - the other tuner should still be available.

Thanks for taking your time to help.

I'm not sure how DeadRun is scheduling anything on the analog or digital tuner. I don't see any way to pick the tuner, as it seems to use the first capture source listed in the Config. Right now my analog is first in the config, so the only way I can schedule something on the digital is to first schedule something on the analog, then the conflict schedules on the digital.

Some things I want on analog, so I don't have to convert them to burn onto DVD. Other things I want on digital for the HD quality. Would be nice if there was a way to pick the capture source when scheduling.

Also thought it was strange that I still have conflicts after upgrading to 1.0.8 and adding the digital capture source. I had to cancel a recurring recording and reschedule to get it to schedule on the digital.

When I schedule a recording I am not picking a tuner, I am picking a channel. Since the QAM channels (digital) are only available on the 1600 digital tuner, the QAM tuner is chosen. When I select a show on an analog channel, the 1600 analog tuner is chosen.

Obviously I can't do this on my other box which has multiple PVR150 analog tuners. Just trying to get my feet wet in the digital tuner world.

Thanks for the clarification, DeadRun. When I added the digital capture source, I specified the same Zap2It account I was using on the analog, which captures digital cable off the cable box. So all of my QAM channels are mapped to channels that are also available on Analog. Should I have created new channels dedicated to QAM? How would they get EPG info if I did that?

I do it by having one zap2it account and in that account I have two lineups. One lineup is the analog channels and the other is the digital lineup.
