Hi all,

I am new and i have a few questions. please be gentle.

I have everything hooked up and i can use the software that came for my card but the tv guide will not update correctly no matter what I do.

I found this great site and i am looking to use this program, but my card isnt on the list I read how to set up an unlisted card but I am way confused on what to do. Could any other ati people share how they have theirs setup? I tried searching but didn't really find a nothing.

Sorry, but this card lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder so is not supported by GB-PVR.

You may want to checkout the WDM Recorder or the Graph Recorder

I was able to get my ATI All in Wonder Radeon (an even older AIW than your All in Wonder 9600) with these plugins.

Hope it helps,

Also a complete PVR n00b, and I had a question, before I go out and invest in a new card for a media box. I have the ATI AIW X800, is this card also insufficient for the required hardware MPEG2 encoder? should I bother trying to figure out my filter name, etc to get this working? (Should I be making a whole new thread for this card? I couldnt seem to find any thread dedi'd to it...)

Thanks in advance for any replys. :-)

Sorry, all the AIW cards lack the required MPEG2 encoder hardware, including the X800.

You can try those plugins mentioned above if you want, but they not supported by myself.

I'm a total noob when it comes to GB PVR and I'm curious as to why you say the required MPEG2 encoder is missing when MCE 2005 requires a hardware encoder and the AIW 9600 and newer AIWers state that they have harware encoders according to ATI.

To Sub: My thought is that they have the encoder but they cheat/use software to enable encoding and that is why "the AIW cards lack the required MPEG2 encoder hardware" that you state is needs sub?

sorry for my idiotic questions and dropping the M$ product name in the forums.

Trust me, the AIW card are not compatible with GB-PVR. I have an AIW X800 myself.

yep, they use the avivo codecs in MCE to encode...
works rather well tho and only about <10% cpu even on an 1800...
i think the 9600 will work with WDM software recorder if you use old ati drivers...
newer ones i know don't work...and Toppers radeon is a different architechture so 9600+ doesn't work with current wdm plugin...

but it should work fine with the graph recorder plugin...tho it's not as nicely integrated,it does record fine..Smile
