I was wondering if anyone has been working the Avermedia M780 for QAM? I haven't seen anyone post any successes.

Sorry, you cant use this device for QAM with GB-PVR.

QAM tuning is covered by the current BDA spec so every manufacturer implements QAM tuning a different proprietary way. To get QAM tuning working the manufacturer needs to supply info about their method, like Hauppauge and OnAir have.

Unfortunately I dont have any contacts at Avermedia, so I have no way to get this info.

Okay. I didn't know if anyone had done this yet. It's working for me. I was a little suprised by it.

Here is what I did:

1. Download the Aver Media Center and AverTV 6. QAM will not work without Aver Media Center. I think m780 driver that enables QAM is only in the Aver Media Center.
http://www.aver.com/mpd/support/download...enter.html

2. Then I made the following to allow for the extended QAM tuning and put this into bda.ini.
[AVerMedia M780 (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia M780 PCIe BDA ATSC Tuner 2
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia M780 PCIe Digital Video Capture 2
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=Mpeg2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=Mpeg2 Transport

3. I also had to modify the qam.ini to get some of the higher frequency channels.
126=805250,0,125
127=811250,0,126
128=817250,0,127
129=823250,0,128
130=829250,0,129
131=835250,0,130
132=841250,0,131
133=847250,0,132

4. Then I just scanned for channels like any other BDA tuner and the channels showed up.

Hope this helps.

Wow, good work. GB-PVR is fast becoming the most QAM compatible solution on the market, and sub can't even test QAM/ATSC devices. Big Grin

I'm very surprised this would work for you, but I'll take your word for it. Congratulations on your find.

I would be interested to see your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log after a scan.

Here are the logs. Let me know if you need something else. I also included a screen with a qam channel in PVRX2.

Hey sub, think you would be interested in having full reign of a machine with a Fusion card in it? I may be able to set that up if you ever want to tinker.

I appreciate the offer, and I'm sure it'd come in useful some times, but I probably wouldnt use it often enough to justify having it running all the time.
