Had a look through various threads but couldn't find any with my problem.

I had GBPVR setup and working well with a cheap non branded DVB-T card. I decided to get a dual tuner Nova T 500 (newer one with diversity) to replace it and my problems began.

When I go to the map digital channels bit, e.g. to tune in the channels, the scan starts but after about 5 seconds it locks the machine. No BSOD, the machine just hard locks. I've tried various different drivers for the card, various versions of the bda.ini from the forum and just to rule out XP, performed a fresh install on another HD, same result. It happens with both 1.0.8 and 1.0.16. I'm running XP Pro.

Anyone have any ideas as I'm at a total loss as to whats happening Sad.

If the machine is locking up, then its most likely some driver bug, or hardware instability.

The strange thing is that mediaportal and the bundled Hauppage stuff works just fine on it (scanning and watching) and the machine is very stable, never crashes bar this .

That was my main reason for a clean XP install as I thought the other pvr apps may be affecting it but turns out they weren't.

Sorry, I dont know.

Based on past experience, the comment I offered above it correct. Thats not to say those other apps are using the drivers in the exact same way as my app, so may not experience the exact same thing.

I treat all BDA devices the same way, and the vast majority of people have no problems like this. There are tons of people using this specific device successfully with GB-PVR, so I can only guess its something about the drivers or the device itself that doesnt like something else in your machine.

Shame that Hauppauge don't , I should have known it would have been their fault. It's fixed now, your comment there made me keep going as I was sure it wasnt a GBPVR fault Smile. There is some sort of incompatability with the supplied Hauppauge drivers on CD (and the nova 500 T drivers on their website) with the diversity card.

It looks like the diversity requires slightly different drivers that arent listed on the standard hauppauge support pages, I found the following driver thats hidden away on their site. This is the only driver that I've found on the hauppauge support site that mentions the diversity as a separate card. Myth doesnt work at all with this card supposedly so I'm guessing mediaportal and the standard Hauppauge app must be immune to the driver problem.

Chances are it may just be me (wrong CD in the box perhaps?) but that driver should help anyone else in the UK with problems with a Hauppauge 500 diversity Smile.
