I upgraded to v1.0.16 on my desktop machine on Thursday and since then I've had numerous failed recordings and had to manually restart the recording service several times in order to what live TV. Never had these problems with v1.0.8.

I've had time to play around today to try and track down the problem and it looks like the recording service is sometimes being told to shut down when PVRX2 starts up.

The shortest sequence of actions I've done so far to trigger it involved:
Start PVRX2, watch some TV, start recording the current programme, switch to watching another recorded program, quit out of PVRX2, restart PVRX2 - its at this point that the recording service quits (had task manager up at the time). From its log:

2007-08-18 20:21:17.281 INFO [14] Parallel Processing thread starting...
2007-08-18 20:21:46.718 INFO [4] GB-PVR Recording Service stopping
2007-08-18 20:21:46.718 INFO [5] RecordingManager has been signalled to shutdown
2007-08-18 20:21:46.718 VERBOSE [5] Stopping recording oid:1
2007-08-18 20:21:47.046 INFO [5] RecordingManager has finished
2007-08-18 20:21:47.718 INFO [4] GB-PVR Recording Service shutdown complete
2007-08-18 20:21:47.734 INFO [2] Finalize called

I ideally need to use v1.0.16 because it fixes the missing DVB-T EPG entries issue I've been having lately due to programme listings being broadcast on a different mux to the actual channel.

Full logs attached. Any ideas?

That looks like it hasnt crashed, but rather the someone or something has either stopped or restarted the recording service. Its a graceful shutdown rather than a crash.

The recording service is definately being told to exit, but not by me our any one else; its when I restart PVRX2 that it exits after some combination of recording, cancelling a recording, viewing live TV, watching recorded TV and then quitting out of PVRX2. Its also possible that it only happens if I navigate the GUI using the keyboard.

I've turned off all plug-ins. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I think before and after the reinstall I had your "no signal" patch applied. Any other suggestions before I roll-back to v1.0.8?

does yours still show that its recording (green icon)but it has actually stopped
i have a earlier download of 10016 so im installing that as this does not happen on 2 earlier installs on other computers

another thing i noticed is when restarting it would pop up saying its installing gbpvr when it was already installed
now ive installed the earlier version the satellite frequencies are wrong and it picks up the sky NZ listing instead of free to air

trying 10008

The currently recording programme is shown in red in the TV guide, indicating that it is being recorded, but the recording service has exited at this point, so nothing is being recorded and I have to manually restart the recording service before I can watch TV again.

I didn't get my channels being messed up after the upgrade or reinstall as you did, so that sounds like a separate problem. Besides, I'm on DVB-T and your using a satellite tuner.

I've just been playing around again trying to reproduce my problem reliably; rapid actions of recording the current programme, cancelling, switching channels, switching to viewing recorded stuff, exiting and then restarting PVRX2 doesn't trigger the problem; it looks like recording has to be allowed to continue for a few minutes followed by some combination of the above actions before I can get the recording service to exit when I restart PVRX2. All very odd.

I've managed to narrow down my problem to a few simple steps. From the TV guide, start recording the current programme, wait 5 minutes then cancel the recording (no need to view or do anything else to trigger the problem), quit out of PVRX2 then, as soon as I start PVRX2 again the recording service gracefully quits - it thinks it has been told to. All queued recordings fail from this point and I can't watch live TV until I manually restart the recording service.

Logs attached.
