How to record streaming video

I was thinking about how to record streaming video. My first thought is to just connect the S-video TV-out of my graphics card to the TV-in of my PVR-250, and also loop the audio.

Anyone done this, or do you know of a better solution, please let me know.

Technically, this should work, although you'll have to put up with the borders your player might throw on the screen.

A potentially better way would be to use a program like streambox VCR or WMRecorder to capture the streams, then manipulate them with a video editing package.
