I just went from 99.x to 1.0.16 and it seems to make no difference which renderer I choose, I get audio and the interface but no video. I assume this is because my system doesn't VMR9? How can I tell?

whats your video card ?
the renderer for 10016 doesnt change when you adjust in config
its alway vmr custom(direct3d)
or you can start it full screen exclusive but you have to change the startup parameters in a short cut (which isnt going to help you anyway if vmrcustom doesnt work)

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Video card is old, NVidia GeFroce2 MX/MX400. I don't really know what VMR is, but I'm guessing this card doesn't support it.

Logs attached.

I never watch TV on my computer, only the MVP, which I have tested, and does display video, but the interface is extremely blurry, gives me an instant headache.

There is no obvious cause shown in the logs for why its not working on the PC, but I do suspect that card isnt up to it. I think a couple of other owners of the same video card have also reported the same problems. I suspect the card doesnt have enough video memory.

Not sure on the blurry MVP interface. Did you try removing power to restart it? Maybe the text is too small for your tv to display well? CRT TV? Some TVs are much better at displaying text than others.

Well, like I said, I never use the computer, so I'll be in no hurry to upgrade the video card, and it does still work when I use GBPVR.EXE instead.

As for the MVP, my tv is 50" DLP. The default blue skin is extremely blurry. I forced the MVPServer to GBPVR.EXE and hardcoded the skin back to nouro, and everything is as it was, just running in legacy mode.

So, let me ask, will I be able to run like this for the foreseeable future, or will you be fully deprecating GBPVR.EXE soon?

GBPVR.exe will be removed from the installer in a couple of releases. (cant just keep including it otherwise I'll have to do double maintenance in GBPVR.exe and PVRX2.exe anytime I want to modify the DLLs they share)

If the blurryness is just because of the font and/or size of the text, then you could try the alternative skins others have been working on.

PVRX2.exe has a much more stable MVP server than the old GBPVR.exe one, which is another good reason to use PVRX2 if you're able.

I had the same exact thing happen. Found no reason for it so I decided to get new drivers and try that and it worked (PNY version of your card). You can get the new nvidia drivers here

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71_2.html

I was then able to use VMR9 again.

I had the same no-video issue but the newest nvidia drivers disabled VMR9 overlay on my GeForce2 MX 400 which caused PVRX2 to not start. I went back to Forceware version 78.01 which restored VMR9 overlay and fixed the video problem in PVRX2. There are several 8x.xx versions of the Forceware drivers on nvidia's site, but I haven't had a chance to test any of those out yet.
