So I recently bought a second MVP (my first was wired only, this one is wireless, although i'm using it wired).

When I'm watching live TV on the new MVP the video regularly (like every minute or two) stutters. The sound doesn't stutter, and as a result ends up getting ahead of the video (so they become out of sync).

I thought maybe it was an issue with the cables I had running to it, so I switched the two MVPs, and the old one still works perfectly, and the new one stutters in the old place.

Any suggestions as to what's causing this???

I emailed Hauppauge as well, but you guys are always great so I thought I'd try here...

5 Hard-drives, total 1.8 TB
GB running on my PC, as well as two wired MVPs.

I see that you are running Vista so there are definitely issues with the Hauppauge dongle, even on 99.12 which I assume you are using or your problems would be much worse. Have you tried mvpmc to see if it makes a difference?

No I haven't tried that... I don't think I have any of the hauppauge software installed... I suppose i could install it and try it out.

I am still on .99.12.

The dongle i'm using can definitely work, as it works fine with my other mvp... I just noticed i have dongle.1.1.52.0 sitting around here, I guess i'll try that and see if it fixes anything...

Mvpmc fixes a world of shortcomings on the MVP. I'm running 2 MVP's on my network and they are MUCH more stable when using the mvpmc dongle. I highly recommend it. Smile

I agree with trying out mvpmc, it opens up features not found in the original dongle. it's not perfect but at least it's constantly being improved.

Did you install the tunercards with the drivers that adress the timestamp issue including the necessary registry entries?

I don't actually remember if I installed the new drivers or not... I know I have at some point, but I also rebuilt (and reinstalled) everything a few months ago, and I don't remember which happened first...

I guess that's another thing to try and do...

I don't think it's the timestamp issue since you'd see the same problem on both machines.

Yes I realised that, but wanted to rule it out. Maybe a not so good (wireless) connection is more vulnerable for the time stamp issue.
I know it's a long shot.

I haven't actually been running it wireless though... I've had it plugged in the whole time...

I just switched dongles, and am going to see if that changes anything (in a meeting now, so I can't watch yet...)
