Hi,

To those in the know, using gbpvr in Windows xp, I have been trying to set my 'Recordings Directory' to a mapped drive on my Synology Diskstation NAS server; it is effectively a network drive. The plan was to record TV programmes onto the server HDD and then download them by ftp and watch them when I am away from home. I can record TV programmes to the PC HDD with no problem, but whatever I try it will not record onto the server HDD.

Does gbpvr have this functionality, or is what I am trying to do not feasible?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Remember, the recording service runs as a different user account, so is wont see your mapped drives.

You can probably change your recording service settings to run as your user account.

Thanks,

I've never done it before so I'm not in a great position to give advice on this.

You could try going into the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, then view the properties of the GB-PVR Recording Service properties to adjust the startup account.

I have done exactly this, I created a user account on the serverwith expicit permissions on the share it records to. But you have to remember that you have to re-do this setting every time you upgrade GBPVR as it resets the user account for recording service.
