Hi,

I have a a couple of intermittent problems with GBPVR (I am running vs 1.0.16 with the new interface) which hopefully someone can help with.

1) Occasionally, recordings still show as "Pending" a long time after they have finished recording. If I reboot the PC this fixes the problem.

2) If I schedule two recordings on the same channel, one after the other, I am finding that sometimes the second recording doesn't work.

thank for any help you can give me.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs. Also post details about the intended recording times.

Thanks Sub,

I have attached the recording service logs (I guess these are the ones you need?).

To reproduce the problem I scheduled 3 recordings last night (20/07/09):

1) What Not To Wear, 20:00-21:00, BBC1 - this worked fine

2) Saxondale, 21:30-22:00, BBC2 - this resulted in a zero length MPEG file and stuck in the "Recording" state in the "Pending" menu (i.e. it was still showing as "Recording" this morning).

3) That Mitchell and Web Look, 22:00 - 22:30, BBC2 - this resulted in no MPEG file and stuck in the "Pending" state in the "Pending" menu.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, but you enable log flushing in the config app, then reproduce the problem and repost the logs? Unfortunately the end of the logs seem to cut off.

Thanks,

I have done as you asked and attach the new logs.

I scheduled three recordings again (21/09/07). The first one ("Michael Wood - The Story of India") resulted in a zero length MPEG file. The next two ("The IT Crowd", "My Name is Earl") failed with no file produced. All three are still showing as "Pending" in the recordings section.

Thanks again for your help.

You'll need to check the task manager process list to see if GBPVRRecordingService.exe is still running when this occurs. If its not, see if there is a message in the Windows Event Viewer describing why the process is no longer running.

I have checked and it appears that the recording service did terminate unexpectedly just after GBPVR attempted to start the recording.

I have attached a zipped screengrab showing the error message from the Windows Event Viewer.

I think this problem may be related to tuning as I have noticed that after the problem occurs it is no longer possible to watch live TV in GBPVR. I get the error message:

"no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

The only way to fix this is to take out and re-insert the USB DVB tuner I use (Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T-USB2) and restart the machine.

To be honest, I dont really know. Something is causing it to crash, but there are no good clues exactly what.

Quick update on this. I posted the query on the Hauppauge forums and was given the suggestion to switch off the screen saver. I tried this and it seems to have solved the problem.
