In the past when gbpvr couldn't find a recording, it used to check for an avi file. That isn't working currently. When I transcode a file (through an outside script) and delete the original mpg or ts file, gbpvr can't find the avi file. The DB entry later gets removed. I changed AutoRemoveMissingRecordings to false to stop that removal. recordings-dump.xml lists the ts/mpg file. Here are my settings.

Code:
<CheckForRenamedRecordings>true</CheckForRenamedRecordings>
  <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

Logs are attached.

Thanks.

I'll have to check this one out when I'm back home. Can you bump this thread in about a week?

I've just had a check and it works as expected for me. (1.0.16)
export recordings (just in case).
rename a recording from .mpg to .avi with explorer
restart recording service
start pvrx2 and programme is there and watchable.
export recordings again and peer inside - filename is present and now .avi

Well I tried the above. On the GBPVR server I get two options when choosing a recording whose extension has changed: delete and close. On the GBPVR client, I get a play option but when I choose it, the screen goes dark and then it returns to the recording screen again.

Martin, could you post your config.xml? Perhaps I'm missing something.

Well I replaced the config.xml and only changed the recording location. The problem is still the same so it must be something other than the config. I know the new config was loaded because it removed all the AVI recordings. Wink I'll check to make sure I have all the latest GBPVR patches and I'll keep troubleshooting it. I'll bump this in a few days if I still can't find the problem.
Thanks for all the help.

Hi Sub,

I'm still experiencing the problem. I tried a clean install keeping only my db3 file but ran into the same problem. I mainly use this from a Client/Server standpoint so I don't know if that changes anything. I've included the logs from the server and client. Is there any other logging I can enable to get a better idea of what's going on?

Thanks.

I think the auto rename and auto remove features are disabled on the client when it starts, since its fairly common that network drives etc might not be visible, or if in streaming mode then it doesnt know if the files exist until it tries to play them.

The auto rename and auto remove logic, if enabled, is run when the recording list is loaded, like when you view the Recordings screen - so you'd probably find you'd need to view the Recordings screen on the server for this logic to run.

Ok, thanks for the info. I was able to get the server to work correctly, and you're right, the client won't do the rename. It has to be done on the server first. I use file sharing mode for the connection. So I take it there's no plans to extend this functionality to the client?

Thanks for your time.

To be honest, probably not. It'd only really be possible when you're using 'file mode', but I've always recommended people disable the auto remove/rename features when they use network drives, since its all to common for the drive to be "missing" resulting in recordings being removed from the database etc. This is pretty much why I chose to disable these automatically for client mode.
