Can't install alternative driver for MCE remote

Hi,

My configuraiton is:
- Windows XP
- Hauppauage 500MCE
- MCE 2005 ver 2a remote control
(as detailed here http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardw...eyMappings)
- remote control is currently using "eHome Infrared Reciever" driver
- remote is working (i can scroll up and down on the main GBPVR menu)

I'm trying to install the alternative driver for my MCE remote
as detailed here: http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remot...e%20Driver

But...XP refuses to accept the driver as valid.
When i choose "Have Disk" and point to the mceir.inf file, it just
spits back "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".

I've searched the forums and google and can't find a solution.
Any advice would be appreciated...

I managed to force it to be installed by hacking the INF file and included the following vendor id / device id line:

%USB\VID_0471&PID_0815.DeviceDesc%=MCEIR.Dev, USB\VID_1784&PID_0001
