so i sat down to watch a recording and theres no sound. I check the live tv, i get sound on all the channels except the one that recorded. Of course its NBC where the new shows are, so now im frustrated cause i missed the office. I don't think its a hardware problem because WinTV outputs the sound on the channel just fine. Like i said, All the other channels work perfectly. Any ideas?

I tried removing the card from the capture device and setting it up again with no change. There has to be a setting somewhere inside GB but i don't have any idea where that could be. any suggestions?

Nothing springs to mind.

What capture device are you using?

Haupaugge PVR 150, pretty standard. do you think it would be an audio decoder/renderer problem? right now they are system default.

I know the PVR150 used to be pretty prone to audio missing on some channels, but hauppauge have put a lot of effort into correcting this in recent drivers. If you're running old drivers, it might be worth trying the most current ones.

I just updated the drivers to no avail. I am unaware how to change the frequencies, I don't know how to go about that. I tried the tuning assitant but i don't think i really did anything, i just clicked ok. A fresh install did not help, i renamed my GB folder and did an install and got the same problem. While trying things out, i accidentally started WinTV, which started playing the sound since i was tuned into channel 8 ( the dead one). So for some reason GB is picking off the video stream but not touching the audio stream. this would make so much more sense if it was on more than 1 channel. I don't get it. I tried downgrading to .08 and same problem. I ran the cleaner for Hauppauge which removes EVERYTHING drivers you name it, did a complete reinstall (again) of GB-PVR and im having the SAME PROBLEM. Gahh. how can i change the frequency or edit them or anything. This is frustrating.

I took the card out of the computer, put it in another computer that has never had any GB-PVR or anything on it, set it up and SAME PROBLEM. I don't know what to do anymore. It has to be a tuning problem, but i can't find where to change them. help?

I dont really have any suggestions for you. It sounds like the device or tuner is are failing to lock on the audio carrier for that channel for some reason. All this is supposed to happen automatically, and isnt something GB-PVR has any control over.

You could try entering the channel frequency in the capture source channel list (ie, 95000000), instead of the channel number, then adjust a bit either way to see if it helps.

THANK YOU SUB. I finally got it working. After some tweaking, i found that GB selected the frequency 181187500. I played with it a bit and found that 181387500 worked the best and recieved the audio. Thanks for the assistance. score 1 for sub/stustunz.
