Looks like the price went up some but according to one member they do ship to Canada if you ask them, here's the post (bottom of the page by member "kenmcm" http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=29609&page=2

And here's the unit on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Hauppauge-Media-MVP-...dZViewItem
looks like he has 14 of them now. Same seller when I bought mine, which totals around 35 that he's put up so far. Must have bought a huge surplus of these from Helius.

There is a HD version coming out? Do you have any links to it? I did a quick google and didn't see anything.

There is a lot of buzz right now because SageTV has announced that they will have a media extender in November. There is no link that this this a Hauppauge product but for some reason some SageTV users think this is the HD MVP.

There's also a few new MCE extenders coming out too so it could be an interesting fall.

No its not the new Hauppauge HD MVP, but some other product.

I just saw this eBay post, and the seller has 100 more available. Get one before their all gone Smile

And they do ship to Canada. $23 for the first one and $12 for each additional one. Certainly the price seems right. Is there anyone else in Ottawa that wants one. I'll organize a group buy if you want to save a few $$.

Agreed, that's a horrible price to pay for shipping to Canada. Unfortunately though, it's not that far out of line some times with what we have to pay up here to get items from the US.

As it does go across the border, there could be extra paperwork involved, and the issue of actually taking this to a post office to do any paperwork means that sellers immediately jack up the price. A bit of the fear of the unknown I'm sure as well.

I have to look at the total price and see if that's still significantly cheaper than what I could get it for up here. Now, if I could just get a couple of guys together to help split that initial shipping cost, and we offer a few dollars less than the asking price, then we are in business.

Ebay is about looking at the total price anyway. Lots of ebayers jack up the shipping charge because there aren't ebay fees on the shipping charge. That's why you might see something selling for, say, one cent but $99 shipping.

I am in Ottawa and I think I am interested. Just so I understand, is the purpose of an MVP is to be able to watch the shows recorded on the main computer that has the full installation of gbpvr? Does it take up another link on the network?

Probably a good place for an explanation is on the hauppauge site for the MVP here:
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/...iamvp.html

Basically one side of it connects to your network, where you computer with a GBPVR resides, and the other side of it connects via RCA jacks to the back of your T.V. It extends GBPVR to a television, instead of a PC based solution. In my case, the MVP sits beside the TV upstairs, and the PC running GBPVR sits in the basement. It's silent when running beside the PC.

I'm sure there are better explanations on the wiki or on the hauppauge site.
