no audio from HVR 1300 line in

I'm trying to record from the video composite and audio line-in on one of my HVR 1300s. I set up a Direct Recording capture source fine, but I can only get video but no audio.
As an alternative i've tried capturing the signal directly from the card using AMcap, but found I still have the same problem - AMcap only seems to offer the option of capturing audio from the line in of the sound card, not the line in of the tuner card.
So it's maybe not specifically a GBPVR problem, but does anyone know how to resolve the issue? Is there something I need to do to register the HVR with the PC as an audio input device or something...????

I'm not aware of any issues with this, but zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Does WinTV successfully capture audio?

ok so it took a while, but here are those logs...

as for winTV i dont know because its not installed, I just tried amcap because its small and simple, but it didnt seem to find any compatible audio devices. I can install wintv though if you think its worth a punt...

I've had a go with wintv, but It's a load of old baloney - I can't even set up an analogue source at all....
so with a bit more experimenting I've discovered that the problem lies deeper in the machine than GBPVR.
neither amcap nor vlc can find any audio capture devices (other than my soundcard), but the Hauppauge audio crossbars are correctly installed in device manager.
I realise this isn't a GBPVR problem anymore, but does anyone have any idea how to (re)register my cards with the PC as capture devices (i've tried reinstalling them already)???
