Hello,

I live in Germany and I have a pinnacle pctv Sat Pro PCI card (450i) and I can't get it to work with GBPVR.

The pinnacle drivers are installed.
This is how I set up the bda.ini file in gbpvr.

Quote:[Pinnacle PCTV Pro PCI 450i PAL]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
FILTER_TUNER=Pinnacle Stargate Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=Pinnacle File Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Can I just name it whatever I want (like "Pinnacle PCTV Pro PCI 450i PAL") or does a specific name also go there like it does in the filters?

Then in the configuration utility, I can't figure out how to have it scan for channels. Also, in the capture source I created, I don't know what to enter for EPG source.

Can I even use my card with GBPVR?

Thanks for any help.

It can be pretty much any name, but obviously I like it be named sensibly - hopefully using the same name the manufacturer gives the mode.

When you setup your capture source you need to hit the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button to begin the scan.

Thanks for the quick response.

I tried that, but it says to first update EPG. But when I try to do that it can't find the epg source. I guess my problem is I don't have an epg source. It is set to xmltv plugin but I don't have a file to point it to. I don't know what to try.
Zap2it is for US and Canada only
XMLTV Plugin: I don't know what file to give it
DVB EPG Broadcast: Is this for the UK only? It won't work for me (I'm in Germany).
None: this won't do it either

I assume I should try XMLTV, but like I said, I don't know what file to use.

I found this thread here with info on Germany.
I looked online and found this to create an xmltv file

I'm not sure if it worked right, but I do have a list of channels now in my capture source (however, in the channels tab I don't see as many channels as are listed in the capture source). I tried using the xmltv.exe directly, but there is no entry for germany (such as tv_grab_de_tvdoday which was suggested in the thread I found in this forum). That is why I used this other program.

Anyway, I now try to scan for channels and it tells me that the BDA source is not configured properly - and then if I change the name of a filter, it does scan a total of 74 entries (I assume from the data source) and then tells me there were no channels found.

These are my filter options. You can look at my previous post with the .ini info to see if I did it correctly. I have played with the capture name and used the two that are on this filter list screengrab.

This is all pretty new to me and I'm not too familiar with perl and the whole setting up of a PVR so thanks for your help and patience.

BTW: when I tried to use xmltv.exe, I ran it from the command line and it told me that tv_grab_de is not a valid command. It lists other tv_grab_## options for other countries as available commands, but not the "de" one for germany. Anyway, that is whay I used the other program, but since it is only a trial version, I would like to figure out how to use xmltv.exe for the future. I know in the other thread from 2 years ago, the guy was able to do it for germany. Hmm, any ideas?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs.

The most common reason for this with satellite users is the LNB or diseqc settings being wrong.

Sorry, I dont really know anything about the xmltv file sources for Germany, so I cant really give you any useful info on this.
