Hi,

I had to reinstall windows but fortunately I had a back up of all my GBVR files and the actual TV programs were saved on a different disk so they were fine.

I reinstalled a fresh version (version 1.16 - same as before) in the same location as before, which worked fine and dandy. Because I have made a number of changes to the skins and had a database of 100s of TV programs, I thought the easiest thing to do would be copy over all the files from the backup over the new install (a bit hopeful perhaps). It didn’t work, things crashed and I couldn’t see the previous recording. “recording-dump.xml” seems to contain all the relevant program info and gbpvr.db3 is a healthy 4Mb.

I have now uninstalled and I’m in the process of reinstalling. Whilst I can go through and recreate the changes I made to the skins, I can’t work out how to recreate the database or copy over the old database so that it will work with the new install.

Any ideas?

Thanks is advance.

Uninstall GB-PVR, then delete the c:\program files\devnz directory, then do a clean install of 1.0.16, then copy the gbpvr.db3 file over from your backup.

That doesn't work. I can only see references to a single recurring recording (probably the only recurring recording that I had programmed at the time of the backup). All the previous recordings aren’t there.

After I have copied over the .db3 file, when I first go to “recordings” it does hang for a while before eventually getting there.

did you import your recordings ?

or did you just copy over the data base?

D'oh. I've just realised why it couldn't see / import any of the other files. I hadn't realised that during the windows re-install it had changed the drive letter of my second hard disk (no idea why it has done that). Sorry, schoolboy error.
