ATI HD2600 HDMI Sound?

I recently acquired an ATI HD2600XP card (PCI-e) and it seems to work very well outputting HDTV. However, it's also supposed to output sound over HDMI (actually via one of the DVI outputs and ATI's DVI->HDMI adapter) but I can't get the sound to work. I've installed the HDMI sound driver (multiple times) but the device doesn't show up in device manager. I also installed a Microsoft patch that handles HDMI sound bit still no workie. Anyone else running one of these cards and have the sound working? I'm running XP Pro/SP2 and the latest ATI drivers (7.10). I can get sound out of the sound card but I'd really like to get the HDMI sound to work.

hmm, try filtercheck and look for a second audio out device..
i believe it is called something slightly different than a audio device, since it's really only outs.. but it should be accessed thru a filter, search the web for a graphedit graph and that should give a clue of the chain and filters needed...

then try adding the filter to audio decoders list in config.xml and see if everything plays thru it..may be other problems using it as sole out, but it might work..

and please post results as i'm looking to get one of these and would like that feature too..it has 5.1 natively..

The HDMI driver is for the entry under what is probably "other devices" and is "audio device on high definition audio bus." As of last month, the driver is only available on the install disc that came with your card. You also need the ATI HDMI adapter that if it didn't come with your card you will need to get from ATI. I have yet to hear of a generic adapter working with the HDMI audio.
