GBPVR client over Homeplug network

I currently have a 14mbs homeplug network which has worked very well. I have recently moved house and want to set up a client GPBVR PC in my bedroom.

Has anyone used the 85mbs homeplug for a GBPVR client as these are cheaper and computable with my current setup or should I scrap what I already have and get a 200mbs set up.

I will only be streaming music, DIVX and SD TV

Have you tried what you have? I have 4 of these and I find that I can get acceptable performance on SD content to the MVP so I don't think the GBPVR client should be too different. The biggest problem is the power socket itself. Several sockets in my house don't perform well from my server (the one closest to my stereo of course is an example which the iomega utility rates only 2Mbs ) and I don't know if newer technology handles this many better.

It is half-duplex, but then so is the default mvp.

Yes I have tried them and I have also tried in different sockets and the 14mps (in my house) don't cut it. They are ok for music but not TV or DivX. I guessing the 85mbs will be suitable (and a dam sight cheaper than the 200mbs) but i wanted to hear other peoples experience before I shell out the dosh

It's all about bandwidth, so you can figure out how much bandwidth the application (gbpvr client) uses, and see if that is less than your connection in question (homeplug av) uses.

I used a Zyxel pla-400 (homeplug HD) and it worked fine, but I found the channel switching too slow for me. It was like 5-10 seconds to stream the video in and change a channel on the client, and that was toooo long.

How was it over a wired or wireless network? better or worse?

As a point of reference, I use an app called Netmeter to watch my network usage. It reports 400-850 kB/s when streaming video to the MVP (recorded at the GBPVR "medium" quality setting), with an occasional glitch up to 1 MB/s. The average throughput hovers around 735 kB/s.

Switching channels takes about 3 seconds over my wired network, using the mvpmc dongle, which configures the ethernet port in the MVP for full duplex mode.
