Hello Folks!

It seems that after a long and painfull MediaPortal experience i finaly found a software that (almost) fullfill my needs and, i am sure you wouldn`t guess it, that is GBPVR Wink

my client with the hauppauge 150 plays smooth and the recordings via the s-video input are also of very good quality. so nothing to complain.

BUT

1.) for some reason i can`t control the sound volume (the OSD volume bar is changing but the soundlevel stays the same)
2.) i am not able to play DVDs. just plain black screen

3.) i can`t get the technisat Skystar 2 operational on my server. the technotrend 3200 is working fine, but the skystar can`t be found when i try to start a channel scan.

i already installed the newest technisat BDA driver for that card and i can select it in the config (show only installed devices is checked). in the devicemanager it shows the technisat skystar 2 PCI (BDA).

4.) is there a way to change the settings of the transcoding? i currently have set it to XviD, but i can`t set any quality levels.

5.) i installed the weather plugin on my client and i was able to configure it but when i started GBPVR it wasn`t able to get the information out of the internet (was my fault). when i checked the plugins again, the weather plugin was gone. deinstallation and reinstallation didn`t do the job. so no weather for me.

that`s it for now. after all i am very satisfied with GBPVR and i wish the developer all the best for the upcoming versions of this great program.

Are you using the master volume control or local? There is a setting in the config app? Also, it might matter what your audio renderer option is set to.

Quote:2.) i am not able to play DVDs. just plain black screen
This will come down to the set of audio/video decoders you're using for DVD playback. Experiment with different options in the DVD tab of the config app.

Can you run the filtercheck utility in the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log it produces?

GB-PVR uses ffmpeg for these transcodes. You can tweak the settings in the config.xml's <CustomFFmpegConversions> section.

ok. after having survived my surprise of getting answer to a current problem in a HTPC forum (don`t want to tell which one i mean) i will do as i have been told.

1.) i changed to local an vòila, it works now

2.) i had the PDVD7 navigator enabled instead of the standard one. now it works

4.) found the mentioned entries. can i modify the file with a plain text editor (notepad) ?

3.) attached the servers filter.log

thanks in advance for this incredibly fast response (and response of the MASTER himself!!)

i congratulate for your software. havn`t seen a better (working) one yet and i tried them all (mythtv, GAM, MP, myHTPC, DVBViewer, SageTV, and so on).
others have lots of promises that never work but here is a nice piece of software that does what it is inteded for.

Yes, notepad is fine.

I've reviewed your filtercheck.log and it looks correct. Can you try to do the scan again, then zip and attach your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log files?

I'm not sure which channels you mean exactly, but as a guess are these DVB-S2 channels? If so, then unfortunately GB-PVR only supports DVB-S not DVB-S2, so any channels on DVB-S2 transponders will not be found.

errormsg when i try to rescan:

GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly, and not arleady in use. (Reason: Failed to locate configured BDA capture device)

i also attached the config.exe.log (i hope you can use the rar file)

the issue with the HD channels is a bad thing. i will have to find a solution for that.

Sorry, it has to be a zip file or it wont attach. Try again.

Was it DVB-S2 that was the issue as I suggested above?

As I mentioned above, I need both the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log files. You zip only contained one of these.

Sorry, you wont be able to use DVB-S2 with GB-PVR. There more code that would need to be written to support this, and unfortunately we dont have DVB-S2 in my part of the world, so it may not happen in a hurry.
