I'm having a problem with the M780 card, Recording shows on either ATSC or NTSC does not produce an MPG file which contains a valid header. Because the header is invalid, editing tools like TMPGEnc cannot be used.
I have tried different PVRs with this card, including the Avermedia MediaCenter, and only Snapstream produces a file with a valid header. The problem with BeyondTV is that the time line is not contiguous and therefore the recording cannot be edited without loosing sync between the audio and video.
I can view the recorded show in all players that I've tried, including GB-PVR which recorded the show.
I have tried GSpot to verify the validity of the file, and it does not show problems and is able to play the recording.
I have used a command line tool called mpgtx which has lead me to these conclusions. Given that more than one software package does not produce a correct file I am starting to thing that my computer is at fault (hardware or software), and I'm out of ideas. The card is housed in an ASUS P5B with a Core 2 Duo 2.66 with 2 Gigs of RAM running WinXP.
Compressing the recording using either Nero Recode or DVDShrink fails to recompress the recording to fit on one DVD, the timeline is not valid. Nero crashes.
I have tried Avermedia support but they have not been helpful other to days that their MPEG encoder generates 'standard' frames.
Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Thanks
Philip
