Hi all,

I have a wireless MediaMVP. I'm using a Linksys WRT-54G with DD-WRT firmware. I'm having some issues connecting the device via a wireless connection.

When I attempt to connect to the wireless network from the MVP it states it's unable to obtain a DHCP address (but it does say it's communicating with the accesspoint). I tested the MVP via a wired connection and it was able to obtain an IP, connect to GBPVR and I can view all my media.

Not sure why the wireless would be an issue. Appreciate any feedback.

Thank you.

Resolution
I needed to disable QoS and Wireless Multimedia Support in DD-WRT. Once I did that I restarted the Linksys and also restarted the MVP and was able to connect via a wireless connection. Special thanks to mvallevand and others who offered suggestions.

Is your wireless set up to use WPA? I don't think the MVP supports WPA.
I believe it would have to be 64 or 128-bit WEP.

Hi,
It's set to use WEP. The MVP can connect to the wireless but unable to get an IP. I tried with a laptop and it can get an IP fine when connecting with WEP. I also disabled WEP so there was no encryption, same deal.

Strange.

Try having it announce/broadcast your SSID.

I had problems exactly like yours, and announcing it did the trick. SKiFit knew that to be an issue although it shouldn't be. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=29921

You wouldn't have something like "MAC-adress control" enabled?

nia,
SSID broadcast is turned on.

HtV,
no mac-address control enabled.

I tried a few things but still no good. Strange thing is when I have the original Linksys software it works fine so I guess there is some type of compatibility issue with the MVP and DD-WRT (I'm running v2.4 RC-4).

I can connect but not get an IP address if either of my wireless routers are configured to have QoS or wireless multimedia extensions enabled. Perhaps DD-WRT has these and the Linksys software does not?

Martin,
I did have QoS and wireless multimedia extensions enabled (this is by default). I disabled both and I was able to get an IP address and connect to the server via a wireless connection.

I appreciate the info!
