I was able to get my Pinnacle PCTV HD card recognized in 1.0.16 by editing the BDA.ini file, but when I did the same change in 1.1.5, the card doesn't show up on the list of cards when I try and add a source.
I have a Hauppauge USB PVR which shows up, but that has native support.
Has anyone gotten the PCTV HD working in 1.1.5?

I cant think of any reason it wouldnt work.

What did you try adding to BDA.ini? Also, can you run filtercheck.exe from the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log that gets created?

I kind of have mine working with QAM. Got it at Best Buy (have you seen their Canadian Christmas commercials?). I had to download the beta BDA drivers as mine didn't come with any BDA drivers.

Even though my card is not in any lists it is detected as 2 cards (QAM and ATSC). I've not tried the ATSC but the QAM detects a boat load of cable channels of which about 15 are FTA.

I was hoping it would get detected as an analog card too but so that I could have 2 tuners (my other is the WinTV-PVR USB2) but GBPVR doesn't seem see that side of the card.

I am however having a problem with viewing the picture which I know to be a decoder issue. When using the "system default" codecs I get the top right 1/4 of the picture enlarged to the full size of my screen. If I use the Happauge codec then it all formats correctly but stutters badly and even drops large chunks etc.

Its good to hear that QAM works for you on that device always nice to have more options. The analog side of the PCTV HD lacks a hardware mpeg encoder, might work with the software recorder YMMV. It's hard to say what the system default is using, but I would bet that what your trying to watch is an HD stream, and if that's the case then you probably don't have the required power to decode HD mpeg2 in cpu alone. If you have a newer nvidia/ati card 6600gt/x700 type card you could try the nvidia prue video decoder to enable hardware accelerated mpeg playback. You do need to buy it but you can try it for 30 days.

OK, downloaded the purevideo and that seems to have done the trick. Pretty pissed off that I have to pay money to activate features I already own!

Another thing I've noticed is that PVRX2 bitches about how long it takes for the picture to appear. It does take about 10 seconds or so for the system to switch between analog and digital sources and during that time the tuning bar pops up telling me that I have 100% signal and 100% data but that it can't display it. The tuning bar stays up even though the picture eventually appears.

I've also noticed that it takes about 10 seconds to switch between multiplexes too.

I don't think that I have run out of MIPS (see sig for specs) so could it be that the card is being re-initialized every time it's accessed?

I know how you feel about having to pay for the decoder, I have used the PCTV HD card in under vista (buddy at work bought one when woot had deal and couldn't get it to work under linux, so decided to try it under gbpvr) and hadn't noticed the it taking a long time to change channels, but that was OTA. I actually have wired issues I have is it wont change the channel some times, its like it gets stuck on a frequency. I bet its an issue with the tuner probably also related to your issue with long initial tuning and channel changing. I vaguely remember somebody asked how to increase the time out for digital signal in case your card is slow about doing its thing. A quick search should find it for ya. I would look for it but its after midnight here and I need to get to sleep Smile
