Hi

I've set up a client - server between my PC's to try it out.

A few questions.

When I play from my video library it seems to stutter badly - these are dvr-ms files - I assume it is converting on the fly and just not keeping up with play back over the network. Any fixes?

Also the dvr-ms files stutter a little on the server too - for the same reason I guess. again any fixes?

There is a long delay before anything plays. Buffering I guess again - can that be tweeked?

General question - the menu on the main page is all very nice but I want to scroll fast with the mouse except it is limited by the animation. Any mouse events that occur before the animation is complete get lost. Ideally it should check for events during animation and skip on - maybe in the next version. However is there a setting to tween the animation speed?

Are all the config settings documented anywhere?

cheers

Are you on a wired or wireless network?

Sorry there is no settings to control this. I hope to provide some more options in this area in a future release though.

No. (and no plans to Big Grin)

Sorry, I'm not really sure. When you use a client in file sharing mode, then it is just exactly the same as playing a local file, except it's playing from a network drive. There is no special components used. You'll probably find its the same opening the file from a network share in Windows Media Player.

I was using the streaming rather than the file share. However the file share did not work so well either.
As you say the file share is just the same as a local file but its reading it over the network. I will try media player as well. Your right there must be something else affecting it.

The streaming, I assume uses the recording service or some other service to stream the file from server to client. In that case is the file just streamed as is or is it converted by the server?

cheers

As is. There is no conversion done by server.

if you have firewalls make sure windows has open acces in both directions
make sure the shares on all files are set to allow users to change files

also in windows firewall add the folowing to the allow list
port 7968 tcp, 7647 tcp are the 2 i have open
and also have gbpvr.exe in the allow list

you may already have these settings

sorry to hijack this thread slightly.

Can GB-PVR do the following:

Computer A: Has TV tuner card, running GB-PVR

Computer B: Has GB-PVR installed, wants to watch live TV from computer A via DVB-S streamed from computer A

Nowhere can I find a clear answer on whether it can do this.

yes it can do it
but only if you use a mux from either cyberlink or ati
it will not stream dvr-ms files

start another thread if you want on it and ask what ever you need to know

Mine does play live TV very well from PC A with tuner to PC B - even the voice is in syncBig Grin
The only problen I had was playing the dvr-ms file and it seems that the file is streamed but not converted so I think my problem is the decoder on PC B.

cheers
