I am having problems tuning a few channels in gbpvr and pvrx2. I have a WinTV-HVR-1800 tuner. With the Qam tuning, I have problems tuning channels that have a higher video PID than audio PID. For example: V:255 A:254. I know it is customary to have the audio PIDS higher.

I usually can't tune them at all. I have more success tryiny to tune them by using "channel down" than using "channel up" when they do actually tune. They also tune more often in the preview window in config. Any chance for a fix or work around? I am using the v1.1.5 release.

Here is a partial log from SagetV for the 4 channels I am having problems tuning. All of the video PIDs are larger than the audio PIDs which is weird. They are also the only 4 in my whole set of QAM channels that are like that. Anyone else have a similiar problem with GBPVR and PVRX2 under these conditions? All stations have a strong signal and tune properly in SageTV.

It doesnt matter that the audio PIDs are less than the video PIDs. GB-PVR doesnt care what the PIDs are - they can be anything.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs.

Here are the logs. The ones that won't tune properly are:

[TOON] 73.4
[WJCT] 78.4
[GOAC260] 76.7
[GOAC261] 76.8

Note that [TOON] 73.4 tuning properly when i typed in 45 but would not tune again after that using channel up and down on additional attempts.

[GOAC260] 76.7
[GOAC261] 76.8

the above 2 would not tune in the first time using channel up....additonal attempts using channel down were eventually successful.

Sorry, I'm not really sure. The logs look ok, no obvious sign of errors.

It probably wont help, but it might be worth try different combinations of audio decoder and audio renderer. I've seen some situations in the past where the audio decoder hasnt liked the change in timestamps that can occur when changing the live stream to a different channel.

I've already tried several video/audio decoder/renderers. Quality on these channels shows up at 97-100 but signal strength at 0. Look at the PVRX2.exe.log again. It gets stuck in a loop:

Sorry, I'm not really sure. Even though the logs indicate it has a signal, it looks like the device is failing to deliver any data.

I've narrowed down the channel changing bug. When I can/cannot tune channels is totally dependent upon the previous channel. The problem channels are tunable if the previous channel is an HDTV channel or an analog channel. They are not tunable from another SDTV channel unless it has an HDTV channel on it. For example, if 104.1 is an HDTV channel and 104.2 and 104.3 are SDTV, the problem channels are tunable from any channel on 104. If a channel has all SDTV channels on it, the problem channels are not tunable changing from it. Hope this helps.

On a side note, with PVRX2 the music choice channels keep having the "no signal" keep popping off and on every few seconds. The video and udio are fine though. This does not happen with gbpvr.

I forgot to mention another exception. All problem channels are tunable from one another irregardless whether they are on a channel that carries an HDTV signal. For example, the problem channels are only tunable from another problem channel, any channel that carries an HDTV signal on it, or an analog channel. Non-problem channels are also not tunable from problem channels. I do not know what makes a channel a "problem channel" though.

I'm not aware of any problem like this, and there are alot of people using HDTV devices, so I dont think its a general GBPVR problem. Its more likely to be something with your specific device, or the combination of audio/video decoder (or possibly audio renderer).

Have you tried different combinations of decoder?
