Cannot install anything after 99.05

Just had to restore my PC from a year old Ghost image which had gbpvr 9.8.13 on it, but I had been using 1.0.16 - but after ghosting.

Spent 1hr doing all windows updates + 10 restarts. Now can't install 1.0.16 or 1.1.15. Both error with message something like 'Cannot install psiParser.ax'. Sorry it's not good info, been fixing pc for 12 hrs and need a break. Will generate error msg again if you need me to.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
