i now have 3 tuners in my PC and apparently the recording order of the shows is 1-2-3 instead of the expected 1-2-1-2. or at least if there's a recording running on 2 but 1 is idle then it will go to 3 instead of 1.

first 2 tuners are HVR-950 (device 1 & 2). third is a twinhan 3250. i intended to have the 950s do all recording and the twinhan just the live tv or potentially help out if there's a third show at the same time. i dont want to completely remove the twinhan however i'd prefer to have it record as a last resort because its signal from the same antenna is not as good as the 950s.

is there any way to determine that? should i set it as device 3? as far as i know the device number is just to tell apart same model tuner on a different port.

thank you for any suggestions!

AFAIR recording is done from "top down" and live TV is done from "bottom up" of your recording sources.

yes thats what i had observed too with 2 tuners. it's still a mistery to me why with the top tuner not busy and the middle tuner recording - it would record the new show with the bottom one

Is the 950 capable of recording two channels at the same time?
Afaik it doesn't have a mpeg-encoder on board. Possibly it can only record digital and analogue at the same time.

i'm recording only ATSC from my antenna and i have 2 HVR-950s. they do record 2 shows from different channels at the same time without issues but sometimes one of the 950s isnt used (after finishing a recording) yet the new recording starts in the Twinhan which is set up as the last tuner. this shouldnt happen unless i'm missing smth? There is no padding set on recordings and the recordings i've seen issues with always started/ended either at 00 or at 30 past the hour, so they were "one after the other"

Ok, I got it. I thougt you had one 950 which has 2 tuners (1 analogue and 1 digital)Smile
There was a post in the 1.1.5-sticky http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=31140 post nr 6, you might try that first. It doesn't look exactly your problem though, but it won't hurt either.
I think if you want sub to take a look at it, you'd have to reproduce the problem and post the logs.

I'd make sure you have this patch: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=6

And these settings in config.xml:
<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>false</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>
<TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>true</TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>

both values are already set as you're suggesting. as for the patch, i'll apply it but this appears to be the "v1.1.5 survival guide" thread. will it work with my 0.99.12 ?

Ah, sorry all bets are off on an old version like that. There was a logic problem with the <TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible> setting in that release, which will stop it working as intended. All I can suggest is moving up to 1.1.5 then applying the patch I suggested above.

but if he loaded 1.1.5 and only using the old interface (gbpvr.exe)then the setting would still apply as it applies to the recording service doesnt it ?

so it depends if he is on the original 99.12 or the one that is packaged with 1.1.5
