I have GBPVR set up in that I have channels scanned for 119,110, 91, 82 (expressvu and dish network). GBPVR reports some of the channels as PPV (multiple instances) and Unknowns#1-x (x>12). I also have a schedules direct account that GBPVR gets guide data from. I want to map the channels that GBPVR scans to the guide data. This is a very tedious manual process. The channel mapping in the configuration tool will do the job, but it is going to take me hours I think.

Part of the time consuming process is the fact that the channels to not sort alphanumerically in either the "channel name" column or the "tuning request" drop down box during the mapping process. So, I was wondering if there is a 3rd party utility to work with xml or databases so that I could look through the epg data xml file as well as the scan cache file that gbpvr creates and then match those up. It might make the process go quicker because one could sort the data to match it up easier.

Maybe I am missing something, but I've read and picked up on the fact that North American DVB does not transmit the SID or PID in a standard manner and this is part of what makes the channel mapping so clunky and manual.

Thanks in advance for anybody that can make this process easier for me.

Sorry, it can be pretty painful. The way GB-PVR allow channels to be mapped is very flexible, but can be labour intensive for some.

It does try to take the pain out of it where it can. For example, if there is an exact match (or slight fuzzy match) between the name of a channel in the DVB stream and the channel name in the EPG, then it'll automatically do the mapping at the end of the scan. It also has logic for doing the matchs based on the 'logical channel number' descriptor carried in some broadcasts, or the BAT channel numbers carried in some other broadcasts. These can significantly cut down the work. For those using the DVB EPG option, then they just have to tick the channels they want, no mapping required.

You can use tools like SQLiteSpy to look at or modify the SOURCE_CHANNEL_MAPPING table.
