What does the client do to tell the server to tune a channel to kick off liveTV & send it to the client?

Does it flag something in the DB which is read by the server and then the client just reads the LiveTv file off the server's hardrive?

Or is it much more complicated than that?

Yes. I dont really have time to describe it, but in short the client uses TCP/IP to tell the server to start recording to specific file on the server, then the client and server start a new TCP/IP connection for streaming the data to the client machine.
