I use the MVP for playback of internet files only. Every few minutes, the picture freezes for a few seconds and then continues to play. I use Zprocess, but I never had this issue with Win XP. Is this a Vista issue?

The Hauppauge MVP dongle is problematic under Vista. Try the alternative MVPMC dongle instead: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25206

It basically means downloading a replacement for the dongle.bin file, and placing it in the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\dongle directory, then selecting it on the MVP tab in the config app.

I downloaded, named it donglemvmpc.bin and chose the file from the GBPVR config.

MVP loads the application, displays the 'www.mvpmc.org' logo and the red and green progress bars and then stays on forever.

I can think of two possible causes

1 - mvpmc fails to find a DHCP server, BOOTP is not supported. If you are not connected to a router (preferred) you will need to set up a local DHPC or Internet Connection Sharing

2. - a wMVP is not running WEP-128

Martin.

Sub & Martin - thanks.

It just took it VERY long to go to the menu - not sure why.
It seems that it is working now!

Thanks!

Getting to the main menu can be delayed while mvpmc tries to get find a config file. You can speed this up by either creating a config file (see the mvpmc forum) or allowing incoming UDP port 69 connects on the private LAN so that the tftp connect fails faster.

Well, I was happy too early. I have the same problem with both the default dongle and the mvpmc dongle. With my new Vista box, the picture freezes every few minutes (sometimes seconds). With my XP box - everything works fine. I will keep troubleshooting. Any suggestions for troubleshooting will be greatly appreciated.

Ensure you have the mvpmc dongle loaded, enter emulation mode duplicate the problem and upload your GBPVR logs.

Those logs are empty. However is the problem freezing or stuttering, stuttering might be explained by network bandwidth especially if you are running wireless.
