Hi,
I'm new to GB-PVR.

It's version GBPVR0238.msi

I'm using it with a Hauppauge PVR-350 with direct output over SCART and it works great. I have no monitor and so I'm managing the PC with UltraVNC. DVD-Tool is PowerDVD 5.

The most things works great. But in the first time of installation and using I have collected a few questions:

1. Why isn't it possible to search in this forum? Or where can it be done?
2. How can I play *.wmv-files?
3. I have tried to run the DVD2MPEG and after the first errormessage and generating the folder C:\DVD it does nothing when I try to start it. No HD-activities or progressbar or else.
3.a. I have activated the DVD-Button in the settings but it is not shown in the mainmenu.
4. I have tried to run the DVDripper and it works. But how can I show the ripped DVDs with GB-PVR?
5. Is it possible to show *.dvr-ms files with GB-PVR? With Windows Media Player it's no problem?
6. I have generated a folder for my MP3-files and copied all my folders in this folder. But if I try to play one or all files of a folder it does nothing. Can you give me a tip, what to do?
7. I have activated comskip and it seems to work fine. I have found textfiles in the recordingsfolders. But trying to use this information does not work for me. Is it a "0" (Null) or an "O" which have to be pressed before skipping? I have tried both and maybe I'm stupid. ;-)

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Jens

1/ see top right of page. Its a bit hard to see, but my forum software is a bit "fragile" and doesn't seem to want to let me change the color/templates without breaking everything.
2/ You cant with the PVR350. MPEG1/2 only.
3/ I've never used it, so I cant help you.
3.a/ There was a bug that stopped the DVD button showing up in this release, it'll be fixed in a maintenance release (possibly later today). That said, its not possible to view DVDs on the PVR350, so the button will never be for you.
4/ You cant view DVDs via the PVR350, including those ripped to the hard drive. You'll need to convert DVDs to a normal MPEG2 video file (with stereo sound track) to view via your PVR350. The DVD2MPEG plugin is supposed to do this.
5/ No. PVR350 = MPEG1/2 only
6/ The PVR350 tv out can only play MPEG1/MPEG2 natively. When you try to play MP3/audio, it play through the PC's sound card. Most people loop the PVR350 audio out connectors back to the soundcard's line-in, then soundcard line-out to the tv. This gives seamless audio for both movies and audio.
7/ Comskip doesnt seem to be working for some users, I'm not sure why. It's supposed to be a zero.

Hi

1. I must be blind not to see that. :-)
2. OK.
3. Maybe there is another who can help.
4. 3.
5. 2.
6. I'll give it a try. I must check my cables if it can do it with them.
7. Maybe another can help. I'm testing on.

Out of interests sake, I've managed to view DVD's through both Haupauge's WinTV32/2000 and GB-PVR
By connecting my aux TV out on my video card to my 350's S-video in, Setting up desktop to run in clone mode. and configuring GB-PVR and winTV for the S-vid input. I don't need to do any ripping etc I just watch the DVD on my desktop player and it appears on the 350's TV out. I can provide further detials if this interests anybody

Cool idea. I did the same thing to check the output of my TV out to make sure it worked before I luged my 27" to the office.
