Is there a way to get a "channel" set up in the program guide to show whatever signal is coming in over the RCA inputs on the PVR500 card? I set up an additional capture source with that as the input but nothing seems to work. I'd like to have a simple "channel" to show a few different sources (Playstation, VCR, couple of other things I have hooked up via a RCA jack switchbox)

I would "use the software it came with" but since I have the MCE version it comes with none....

Setup an additional capture source for your device, with the input set to 'composite' and the EPG Source set to 'none'. Ok out of the config app (to save the capture source) then go back in an use the 'Add' button to manually create a channel call 'RCA' or 'AV1' or something similiar. It should then show up with the rest of your channels.

You can still download the WinTV app from the Hauppauge website.

Is there a particular channel it has to be set to?

Also, when I try to tune to it. I get a popup that says "failed to locate configured capture device" when I try to tune the channel. It obviously doesn't show anything in the guide - so I select one channel below it and manually tune one channel up once I'm viewing the signal.

If you only got one PVR500, then it should be either device #1 or device #2. Probably #1, unless you're using the inputs on the extra bracket.

sickboy you do realise it only has 2 encoders on the card so by adding the rca in doesnt give you extra recording capabilities you will still only be able to record from 2 things at once
ie record from 2 tuners or 1 tuner and one rca input or 2 rca inputs at any one time
plus playing playstation through a pvr150 or 500 sucks because of the delay
you would be better off buying a cheap non encoding card

Yes, thanks, I am well aware that it does not allow me to record from an additional source simultaneously. For some reason, my Playstation doesn't like the RCA inputs on my HDTV so I was looking to solve a problem. Obviously I am figuring out these things as I go along.

sub, thanks for the help. I don't suppose there's anything that can be done about lag on the rca and s-vid inputs? (I realize it's well out of the scope of the program, and may be out of the scope of what you can do entirely.....)

the lag is the hardware mpeg encoder so its a hardware problem more than a software problem
