I have used both AC3Filter and FFDSHOW and I can't get any sound on livetv from my center channel. I used the most recent version of both.

I have an analog setup (SoundBlaster Audigy SE) card. Both FFDSHOW and AC3Filter show output levels for the center channel.

In FFDSHOW I never get center channel sound. With AC3Filter I get it if I record the show and watch it but not in live TV. I watch a show and get no center have GBPVR record it for 5 minutes and watch the recording and everything works in the recording. If I switch back to the show in progress (i.e. live) no center sound.

Has anyone gotten AC3Filter to do realtime analog encoding?

I have the same thing happening with my setup. It doesn't bother me enough to make a big deal about it but heres my setup Cable > Hauppage PVR150 > Turtle Beach Montego DDL > SPDIF Out > Sony Amp. When I'm watching live TV it only plays out of the main 2 speakers, but when I switch to a recording, or even hit the pause button, it kicks in 5.1. I'm assuming that the sound card sees a difference in the audio source and converts it accordingly. Let me know if anyone else has had this.

I did find this thread but still couldn't get it to work. I got tripped up on the following:

For analog output of 5.1, you need the following filters enabled:

AC3
Uncompressed

I think they mean to enable these in the codec section. I set AC3 to liba52 and Uncompressed to all supported.

Still no joy.

And with the mixer, do you select Dolby Surround/Prologic... ?

Also, I noticed that I can't get ffdshow and ac3filter to coexist. I disabled the ac3filter...

Setting the mixer to prologic defeats the purpose. ProLogic sends the sound that should be going to the center channel to the left and right channels.

Continuing to try and solve this...

To make this more interesting if I use TSReaderLite to tune the same channels and view them using VLC player I get 5.1 surround (including center channel).

I am not sure what audio filter VLC uses but is there a way to get GBPVR to use the same fillter/decoder?

VLC doesnt use directshow filters. It has its own built in libraries for handling the various audio/video streams.
